What you'll do

  • Assist Team Leader in the behind the scenes planning and operation of the service
  • Provide support and supervision assistance to casual support workers as required
  • Facilitate child-focused supervision of visits (contact) between children and young people and their parent/carer
  • Facilitate the safe and conflict-free transfer of children and young people and their parent or carer
  • Assisting the Team Leader to interview and assess families for risk and suitability to access Children's Contact Service
  • Planning, negotiation and setting up of contact arrangements, including orientation of children
  • Providing case management including case review, evaluation and referral to internal and external programs
  • Assisting in the supervision of casual staff including providing guidance and support while they are engaged in a supervised visit or changeover, taking action on serious matters, preparing and debriefing meetings
  • Participating in and facilitate any program review and evaluation

The details:

  • Work across 2 sites - Berkeley Vale and Broadmeadow
  • 4 days a week - including weekends
  • Contract until 30 June 2022 with possibility to extend
  • $64-66,000 base salary + super + salary packaging benefits

What you'll bring:

  • Clinical expertise in working in a challenging environment with the ability to maintain impartiality within a child-focused context
  • Demonstrated understanding of the complexities of family relationships and the impact of issues affecting families and children including family safety
  • Capacity to use self-reflection, clinical supervision and professional development to improve practice and model effectively to casual staff
  • Ability to engage children, young people and their parents/carers and all relevant stakeholders
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in social science, psychology, or a similar field
  • Demonstrated understanding of the impact of family separation, domestic violence, and conflict on children and young people
  • Previous experience working with people with complex needs, including mental health and substance abuse issues
  • Knowledge/understanding of the developmental needs of children and young people
