What you’ll do

You’ll engage community and support the delivery of comprehensive group training to Resilience Leaders as a part of the Mental Health for Bushfire and Flood Affected Australians – Community Wellbeing & Participation project. You’ll assist the RANSW Resilience Project Leader to develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships in relevant communities, critical to the program’s success.

In Stage 1 of the project you’ll connect with community members to promote the program, build trust and rapport within affected communities and assist in the delivery of training to Community Resilience Leaders across designated locations in the Hunter Region. These Resilience Leaders will then return to their communities to deliver the training and implement community led resilience projects to assist their flood affected communities.

In Stage 2 you will support the Community Resilience Leaders to develop and deliver bespoke community resilience workshops and community events to build relationships and resilience in their communities that are informed by their Resilience Leader learnings. You’ll be expected to engage with diverse populations in effected areas to provide community led support to groups including: Youth, Older People, Farm Residents, Community Leaders and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander People and Communities.

The details

  • Contract until 31st July 2024
  • Part time or full time, 3 days per week
  • Supporting Hunter/New England/Central Coast Regions
  • Approx $46 per hour plus super plus salary packaging benefits
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal hours and do overnight stays occasionally and travel as needed
  • NSW Class C drivers’ licence and own a comprehensively insured motor vehicle

What you'll bring

  • Proven experience in delivering capacity building training to diverse community groups
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in community development, social work, social welfare, health promotion or similar field, supported by relevant experience
  • Proven experience establishing and maintaining effective partnerships and working collaboratively with other organisations
  • Extensive knowledge of trauma informed service delivery and the use of evidence-based interventions to support those effected
  • Previous experience working with community key stakeholders directly affected by critical incidents/ natural disasters, supporting recovery and instilling hope
  • Ideally previous experience working with in rural or remote communities and/or with key target groups in this project (Youth, Older people, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander People and Farm residents)
