Wattle Place is a place of understanding, support and hope for people who grew up in care, former state wards and orphans; Forgotten Australians; the Stolen Generation; people impacted by past Forced Adoption Practices and people impacted by the National Redress Scheme.
You will support Stolen Generations, Forgotten Australians, former Child Migrants and former Care Leavers to navigate aged care and community care options to meet their needs. You will advocate for your clients to ensure services meet their needs and avoid compounding their childhood trauma.
You will identify care providers who are sensitive to the needs of our clients and use a trauma informed approach. This may require information sessions and/or training for other providers to educate services providers.
Critical to your success will be your ability to build trust with people who have experienced being let down by services and the system, how you create a safe place for healing without over-promising and your trauma informed approach.
