About the Role:

This role is supporting the data analysis of the Relationship Indicators project, a national survey exploring the state of relationships in Australia. This survey was previously conducted between 1998 and 2011 and has been re-launched with an updated approach this year.

The data analyst will be responsible for analysing the dataset and producing statistical reports. The data analyst will also provide a supporting role to the Project Lead in the publication of the work. The work will lead to data-driven decision-making within the sector.

You will have the option to work remotely or from the Canberra office. This position is due to commence July 2022. Subject to the level of experience of the successful candidate, we anticipate this project will require three days per week for up to three months.

We will negotiate with the successful candidate to reach agreement on the final working arrangements, which will be flexible and open to further negotiation throughout the contract period.

Selection Criteria:

  • Highly developed quantitative analysis skills with significant experience using program/s (SPSS, R, Python) to manipulate or analyse complex datasets
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience working with large data sets to produce statistical and data visualisation reports and provide insights for team members
  • Familiarity with reporting data in multiple formats for a variety of audiences, including non-technical audiences
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills and an ability to communicate complex data concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Proven ability to deliver results within short timeframes and meet project expectations with quality outcomes
  • Experience working within a team, with the ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, such as Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer science, Analytics, Informatics, etc.

Desirable:

  • Interest in trends and developments in relationships and issues affecting relationships
  • Interest in data visualisation and developing interactive databases for reporting purposes
