About Raise

Raise Foundation impacts youth wellbeing and engagement through early intervention mentoring programs. We exist to ensure that young people feel heard, valued and supported.

Our best practice youth mentor programs empower young people to become resilient, capable and connected. In 2021, we are aiming to reach 2,500 young people in public secondary schools across Australia.

We are looking for qualified counsellors in various locations (listed below) to deliver our 2021 programs:

Locations are:

  • Melbourne Metro
  • Geelong
  • Bendigo

About this Role

Please note this role requires that you have qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling.

Our Program Counsellors are responsible for managing all aspects of our youth mentoring programs in their designated schools. The role is responsible for the successful implementation, delivery and completion of the program, including professional supervision of mentors and mentees, key stakeholder communication, and quality reporting.

Other responsibilities include:

  • The successful set up of the program through collaborative communication with the school Principal, wellbeing team or other staff contacts,
  • Mentor support and retention including the provision of a mentor support session each week,
  • Program delivery over 20 – 23 weeks mostly during Terms 2 and 3,
  • Mentee wellbeing and the escalation of any mandatory reporting requirements to the school as required,
  • Evaluation of our programs on completion.

About You

As a Program Counsellor you will be a dynamic, engaging and passionate professional with qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling.

You are a community-minded individual with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of young people. Your vibrant personality will engage both the mentees and volunteer mentors during the session each week, as the nature of this role requires you to lead group activities in the session, supervise the mentoring matches and facilitate a debrief with the mentors each week.

Your outstanding skills in communication and organisation will see your programs run smoothly with your partner school, as you will work closely with an appointed school contact to ensure a high standard of program delivery. Most importantly, you are someone who really understands young people.

Your excellent interpersonal skills will be underpinned by your outstanding attention to detail, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office to ensure that all administrative requirements of your program are in place. Experience with Salesforce, another CRM or a willingness to learn is ideal.

You will have or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check and National Crime check.

You will report to and work closely with your Program Area Manager.
