Relationships Australia Canberra and Region (RACR) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation committed to enhancing relationships within families and communities to support healthy, respectful relationships and personal and social wellbeing. RACR delivers services such as counselling, mediation, casework, mental health and specialist family and domestic violence programs for families, couples and individuals to communities. RACR is a part of a national federation of Relationships Australia Organisation across the country. RACR provides services in the Riverina/Murray and South Coast areas of NSW and in the ACT.

About headspace

headspace centres aim to create highly accessible, youth friendly, integrated service hubs that provide evidence-based interventions and support to young people aged 12–25 years. The aim is to improve outcomes for young people by addressing the major barriers for service use, and enabling better access to, and engagement in, early intervention services that provide holistic and integrated care in mental health, drug and alcohol, employment, education and physical health services and support, as well as providing information for young people and their families and friends.

headspace Batemans Bay provides young people with access to Allied Health Professionals and community supports to assist young people to access the support they need to develop and maintain the skills and confidence to live healthy and happy lives. headspace Batemans Bay also engages in community awareness and seeks to develop and implement innovative programs to improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people in the region. Relationships Australia Canberra & Region is the lead agency for headspace Batemans Bay and is supported by a Consortium.

About the role

The Mental Health Clinician is responsible for undertaking individual assessments and providing focused psychological strategies for a diverse range of clients with mental health needs. This role works collaboratively with key stakeholders including General Practitioners, Local Health District Clinicians, government, and non-government organisations to ensure high quality outcomes for clients.

This is a part time fixed term contract, based in Batemans Bay.

To be successful in this role, you are required to possess:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, counselling, occupational therapy or other relevant field and a relevant professional registration.
  2. Demonstrated competence in the provision of a full range of mental health services including mental state and psychological assessments (including crisis assessments), individual, family and group, treatments for young people presenting with a range of behavioural, emotional, social or developmental issues, including psychosis and alcohol/other drug issues.
  3. Knowledge, experience, understanding and demonstrated passion for, and interest in, the health and welfare issues affecting young people and extensive skills and experience in assessment of young people and ability to engage with young people and their families holistically including capacity to provide flexible outreach services.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, culturally diverse and LGBTQIA communities.

Salary & Benefits

The salary on offer is in the range of $84,242.14 – $87,176.85 per annum plus superannuation for full time. As a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI), RACR employees also receive tax-effective salary packaging opportunities, thus significantly increasing the value of your take-home pay.

According to the RACR Enterprise Agreement, the successful candidate will have access to generous leave provisions, annual leave loading, special paid leave during annual holiday shutdown period and flexible working arrangements.
