Relationships Australia Canberra and Region (RACR) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation committed to enhancing relationships within families and communities to support healthy, respectful relationships and personal and social wellbeing. RACR delivers services such as counselling, mediation, casework, mental health and specialist family and domestic violence programs for families, couples and individuals to communities. RACR is a part of a national federation of Relationships Australia Organisation across the country. RACR provides services in the Riverina/Murray and South Coast areas of NSW and in the ACT.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, based in either Canberra, ACT or Wagga Wagga, NSW, this role provides leadership and support to practice managers and their teams in the delivery of a portfolio of programs and services across the organisation, that currently includes headspace, Family Referral Service, Senior Relationship Service, support for people impacted by Disability Royal Commission and a range of trauma services. The position ensures that operational plans are developed to support the strategic objectives of Relationships Australia Canberra and Region (RACR) and are well understood and executed by practice managers and their teams while aligning systems and processes to maximise our performance capacity and outcomes for clients. The Director Operations will also ensure that clients’ experience in the respective portfolio of programs from their first point of contact to their exit from our services will be welcoming, smooth, seamless and respectful.

This role is one of four directors’ roles within our organisation, where the four directors are expected to work together with the Chief Executive Officer to ensure that our clients are provided with timely high quality relationship services when they are at their most vulnerable and at their lowest ebb. The directors also ensure that what is contemplated by our funders in our funding contracts is what is delivered to our clients. All directors have an inward focus to ensure excellent service delivery and an outward focus to ensure that we enjoy excellent relationships with our funders, other service providers and stakeholders. All directors will be required to demonstrate a highly relational way of managing teams and resolving conflict. An understanding of, and commitment to, restorative ways of working will be highly regarded. The Director Operations position is a full time ongoing position and will be based in our Deakin, ACT office or Wagga Wagga, NSW office depending on your availability.

To be successful in this role, you are required to possess:

  • A postgraduate qualification in social science, management, law or a discipline relevant to the management of a community sector organisation.
  • At least 10 years’ demonstrated experience in leading, managing and supervising teams of staff and achieving success against organisational strategic and operations plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams using a relational approach to management and business relationships. An understanding of, and commitment to, restorative approaches would be very highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in promoting a client-focused approach to the delivery and management of services.

Salary & Benefits

The salary on offer is in the range of $104,482.27 to $114,919.49 per annum plus superannuation for a full time applicant. As a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI), RACR employees also receive tax-effective salary packaging opportunities, thus significantly increasing the value of net pay. For interstate applicants, relocation assistance will be provided.

According to the RACR Enterprise Agreement, the successful candidate will have access to generous leave provisions, annual leave loading, special paid leave during annual holiday shutdown period and flexible working arrangements.
