  • Part time (3 days a week) – One year with possibility of extension for a second year depending on outcomes and funding

Role purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to support the implementation of QPASTT Research, Evaluation and Advocacy Strategy and Action Plan. The Strategy and Action Plan aim to cultivate an organisational culture where research and evaluation improve practice and inform advocacy to assist people from refugee backgrounds to heal, belong and thrive in a just Australian community.

Requirements

  1. Completion of a PhD in a relevant disciplinary area (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Social Sciences).
  2. Demonstrated experience in conducting quality mixed-methods research, including experience with conducting interviews and qualitative data analysis in addition to quantitative data analysis using statistical software.
  3. Demonstrated experience in conducting research with people from refugee backgrounds is a desirable but not essential requirement.
  4. Good conceptualisation and ability to articulate the ethical considerations related to co- designing and conducting research and evaluation with people from refugee backgrounds.
  5. Demonstrated experience preparing research ethics submissions.
  6. Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, work independently and collaboratively as appropriate to complete research tasks within project timeframes.
  7. Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills, including high quality writing of research reports and academic papers.

Additional requirements

  1. Current Positive Notice Blue Card and annual national police check.
  2. Current Queensland C Class driver’s licence.
  3. Occasional out of hours and weekend work.
  4. Occasional travel to regional office locations in Queensland.
  5. The period of probation will be three months.
