The Support Division is divided into key departments that provide specialist support for the conduct of internationally competitive research programs and projects. The Support Division consists of Finance & Administration, Legal, Information & Facilities, People & Safety, Business Development, External Relations, and Scientific Services.

About the Business Development Team:

The Business Development Unit provides the interface between researchers and commercial partners and is involved in all aspects of business and portfolio planning for commercial projects running within QIMR Berghofer. This includes direct involvement in shaping projects, leading discussions with industry partners and proactively introducing new business opportunities to QIMR Berghofer.

Role Purpose / Responsibilities:

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated Administrative Officer to join the QIMR Berghofer Business Development team. 

 The key duties include:

  • Provide support to Steering Committees overseeing key business alliances of QIMR Berghofer, including preparation/compilation of agenda, assistance in preparing meeting contributions according to defined criteria and standards, attendance at internal and selected external meetings, recording and preparation of minutes, and follow up of matters arising.
  • Extract information from databases relevant for Business Development (internal contract and patent databases, scientific online library, external commercial databases), organize, process, and present information as agreed with member of BD team.
  • Provide administrative support to the team, such as creating PowerPoint presentations;; setting up teleconferencing meetings; monitor cost centre and credit card payments; organize travel and insurance; and processing invoices through Webget.
  • Assist the General Manager with reports for Council and other management meetings.
  • Liaise with Finance to generate invoices and track against commercial agreements
  • Administer the project management database (Inteum) including setting up commercial projects, updating records, adding new users, and generating project & financial reports.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) e.g. Inteum processes

About you:

The right candidate will also ideally have the following:

  • A minimum of five years' experience in an administration role.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise to meet competing deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain productive customer relationships
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft suite (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and work with minimum or no supervision
  • Professional manner and presentation

Remuneration:

Salary range is $64,389 to $71,954 p.a. plus super and salary packaging. This is a permanent, full-time appointment.
