About the Role

Use your experience and understanding of the mining sector to deliver suicide awareness and prevention programs to mine sites across NSW. As a Field Officer you will directly deliver training and community development initiatives to the mining workforce to raise awareness about suicide and its impact on the mining industry. This is an extremely diverse role, where your adaptable attitude, ability to work autonomously and passion for making a difference will be absolutely essential to your success.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Scheduling, coordinating and delivery of training programs to workers at mine sites across NSW
  • Regular engagement with NSW mines, encouraging new sites to adopt the program and supporting active sites to become accredited
  • Maintain a regular schedule of visits to sites to build and support volunteer networks on-site
  • Building relationships with stakeholders at all levels, from site workers to senior leaders 
  • Work collaboratively with Case Managers and other Field Officers nationally, working across other industries such as construction and energy as required
  • Maintain regular Field Officer records, collecting and maintaining data and statistics
  • Provide site support through critical incidents or post-vention

Skills & Experience required

  • Demonstrated understanding of the Australian mining industry and its key stakeholders
  • Genuine interest in raising awareness about suicide prevention and mental health in the mining industry
  • A willingness to work with the existing ASIST intervention model
  • Ability to deliver programs effectively and be comfortable speaking and presenting to groups
  • A flexible and mature mindset, along with a calm, even-measured approach to working in a reactive environment
  • The ability to work autonomously and manage your own priorities
