About the Role

Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for developing and managing our outreach programs and coordinating our team of passionate volunteers. This is a part-time role on a maximum-term 12-month contract, with the potential for extension for the right individual.

Key Responsibilities

Outreach Program

  • Oversee and facilitate the identification and development of viable community based programs and initiatives that support our mission
  • Plan, implement, coordinate and evaluate outreach programs within designated budget
  • Develop program strategies, guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Manage the spending of funds as required
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with representatives of community and social service organisations
  • Raise community awareness and understanding of the positive and mutually beneficial links between human wellbeing and animal welfare
  • Engage community members in outreach programs to increase their knowledge
  • Produce monthly reports on activities and impact of the programs
  • Manage and monitor the outreach email account, responding to emails professionally and within a timely manner

Volunteer Coordination

  • Volunteer recruitment, engagement, training, coordination and supervision
  • Develop volunteer induction and training programs
  • Produce monthly reports on activities and impact of the programs
  • Manage and monitor the volunteer email account, responding to emails professionally and within a timely manner

Administration

  • Ad-hoc administration duties as required
  • Assisting animal rescue program team as required

  • Adaptable team player

Experience & Qualifications

Required

  • Excellent computer literacy
  • 1+ years of experience managing volunteers, including experience delivering training
  • 1+ years of experience working/volunteering with companion animals
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including budget management
  • Understanding of the importance of the human-animal bond, and how it can help people recover from or better cope with illness, injury, trauma and/or loneliness.

Highly desired

  • Qualification in social services, veterinary nursing or force-free animal behaviour training highly desirable
  • Proven experience developing and delivering outreach programs for vulnerable or marginalised people in the community
