Governance & Policy Volunteer

Project Didi Australia

Project Didi Australia is committed to strong futures for women and girls, free from violence. We work with local partners in Nepal to support survivors of trafficking and abuse, through holistic care, education and safe employment pathways. We’re looking for a volunteer to support good governance practices and contribute to the development of organisational policy and procedures.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Use your strong analytical and communication skills to contribute to meaningful change for women and girls. Gain experience in the international development sector, playing a key role in a growing and dynamic organisation tackling issues of gender-based violence, inequality and human rights. Work from anywhere with our small, dedicated team based all over Australia. We promise plenty of flexibility and fun!

You will:

  • Research of best practice to inform organisational policy, including child protection and safeguarding, volunteer management, fundraising and overseas partnership management
  • Review and update Project Didi’s existing policy framework, ensuring it is fit for purpose and meets Project Didi’s compliance obligations
  • Work with Project Didi’s Board to implement policies and procedures across Project Didi’s practices and volunteer network

YOU ARE:

  • An advocate for the rights of women and girls
  • A clear communicator with strong research skills and experience in writing formal communications: policies, briefing papers, reports
  • Able to interpret legislation and standards
  • Reliable, able to maintain regular communication, deliver on deadlines and stay motivated while working remotely and independently

TIME COMMITMENT:

This is a project-based role, which can be divided among a number of volunteers. Depending on your availability and how much you take on, the time required could be 1-2 days, a week spread over a couple of months or a 1-2 week block.
