Trust Compliance Officer - Abbott Native Title Trustees

Who Are We?

Abbott Native Title Trustees (ANTT), is a commercial business and has been operating as a trustee for Native Title trusts since 2001 when it commenced a trustee role in Port Hedland, Western Australia. Since then it has grown to include trustee roles across Western Australia including the Pilbara, Goldfields and Murchison regions.

The Role

This is a newly created role, presents the perfect opportunity for you to make it your own. As the Trust Compliance Officer your key accountabilities will include:

Responsibilities

  • Document management of:
    • Trust Deeds, Legal documents, & Agreements
    • Policies & procedures
    • Minutes
  • Drafting, editing and finalising documents, policies and procedures
  • Management and maintenance of registers
  • Maintaining and updating databases
  • Lodgement of reporting with external agencies
  • Preparation and dissemination of meeting notices, agendas, meeting papers and minutes
  • Ensuring documents are compliant with all relevant legislation and trust deeds
  • Managing client records, including beneficiary databases, correspondence and legal advice
  • Researching and collection of information/data for meetings
  • Ensuring compliance with notice periods, follow up/actions and management of minutes within required time frames
  • Document management and control (electronic and hardcopy)

About You

You will be an excellent communicator demonstrating strength with the written word. Your attention to detail will be impeccable, your standards high and you will have a strong grasp of the English language including grammar. You will be organised, methodical and punctual. Above all you will be passionate about supporting the indigenous community.

The following forms the selection criteria for the Trust Compliance Officer role, please direct your application to these key areas:

Essential Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, such as Law (Practising Certificate not required), or any relevant degree/qualification or experience
  • Advanced written communication skills
  • Analytical skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills and accountability
  • Adaptable
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience using operating systems to maintain records.
  • Willingness to listen and learn from our clients

Preferred Criteria:

  • Knowledge of legal documentation and/or Charitable Trusts
  • Experience in working with Aboriginal People
  • A keen interest in community development and supporting others

Please be aware periodic travel to regional WA to attend meetings may be required in this role.
