Facilitator - Community Living / Disability

Family-Managed Disability Support

OPPORTUNITY:

A management role that makes a difference to an individual’s life and is both personally and financially rewarding.

  • Managing a self-directed, person centred, community living framework
  • 70 hours a fortnight
  • Competitive hourly rate

ABOUT ME

I am a social and sophisticated lady. Having just tipped into my 50’s, my life has been filled with travel, music, and food, and, most importantly with interesting people with stimulating conversation.

I have an eclectic taste in music – Jazz, Opera, Blue Grass, Country and Western, and Classics of many eras. I listen to music that suits my mood and spirit – upbeat, relaxing, reflective, invigorating or stimulating. I am currently studying the music and lives of several of my favourite artists. My love of learning came early, as I pursued an interest in languages and enjoyed travel to London, Paris, the US and Malaysia to name some.

I do not use spoken language, so people can underestimate my skills. My supporters understand me and appreciate my intelligence, my interests in others and my passion for learning, particularly languages.

I have complex health issues and considerable physical and neurological challenges placed on me daily by my disability. However, I have goals and aspirations and a vision for my future.

WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR

I need someone who will be proactive in looking for solutions, can work with diverse health and other professionals, and facilitate my fabulous self-directed team to give me the life that I want.

I’m looking for a fun loving, easy going person, with an open mind and creative and tenacious approach to meeting challenges, who will fit well into my team. Your life and work experiences will show an understanding of social justice principles and practice. It is imperative you can put yourself in someone else’s shoes.

My family are dedicated advocates, supporting me to achieve many successes throughout the journey as well as navigate life’s ups and downs. They have created a personalised model of support that facilitates my diverse and enriched lifestyle. They know I am happiest when I have choice and control over her life, supported by people I have chosen, who are respectful and passionate about my gifts and goals. My team are skilled in enabling me to be consulted and supported in my decision making.

Together with a group of allies who know me well, my family and I are now looking to invite a dynamic and skilled individual to be part of implementing and maintaining a carefully designed strategy.

The family and allies will be responsible for acting to support my decisions, vision and aspiration for my life.
