Disability Support Workers x3

Private Employer

A 36-year-old man with Cerebral Palsy is wanting to privately employ three support workers on a permanent part-time basis. He lives with his wife in their home in the Nundah area. It would be preferred (not essential) that the candidate lived locally to provide timely support when required. Work will start the week of August 17th.

The nature of support requires candidates to have some experience in supporting people with a physical disability, with a high awareness and regard for safety. Specific support training will be provided. It is expected that household duties will also be undertaken.

Each position is 17.5 hours per week with alternating weekends. The position requires a high degree of initiative to work in with the family lifestyle, work and academic commitments. Three workers will job share and may work shifts that are mutually suitable that ensure supports are covered.

A successful candidate will:

  • Have a passion for, and expertise in working with people that have disabilities, specifically.
  • Ensure that the support you provide is flexible, and will fit into a busy lifestyle, not the other way round.
  • Be able to learn on the job, listen, follow instructions, and communicate effectively.
