About the role

Mediation provides an alternative to formal legal processes for families who want to improve their family relationships and focussed on the best interests of children. As a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, you will assist separating families to make arrangements for their children and/or property. You will work with families to resolve matters in relation to parenting and property and will be capable of working with families with complex needs, including those with family violence issues.

This role is a part time contract until June 2024 and may include some intrastate travel.

About you

You are committed to maintaining professional practice and providing culturally sensitive services that aim to strengthen family relationships with a particular focus on the children’s needs. You are motivated by establishing respectful, meaningful, inclusive and collaborative relationships with your clients and our team. You are a skilled negotiator and communicator with effective conflict resolution skills.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree or above in psychology, counselling, social work, law or other related field
  • Hold a Graduate Diploma in Family Dispute Resolution, be working towards it or willing to obtain
  • Have knowledge of Family Dispute Resolution, Property Mediation, counselling and Child Inclusive Practice
  • Be able to demonstrate understanding of the separation process, family dynamics and the needs of children
  • Have knowledge of the effects of trauma and domestic violence on families, children and young people
  • Have experience with individuals, couples and families
  • Have sound interpersonal skills.
  • Have ability to manage a complex caseload
  • Be able to work individually and as part of a team

Remuneration

  • Pro Rata - Full time equivalent salary range per annum of $82,775 - $86,529 + 9.5% superannuation
  • In addition to your remuneration, you will enjoy generous tax-free salary packaging benefits where you can package up to $15,900 per annum

We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to commence immediately.

The successful candidate must also possess a current National Police Clearance valid within one year, a Working with Children Check and a current Driver’s License.
