About the role

The Philanthropy team conducts a diverse range of activities to find and engage donors in a meaningful relationship that creates shared value for the supporter and Pollinate Group. As the Philanthropy Manager, you will manage a pipeline of funding opportunities including grants, individual donors and corporations to achieve growth of overall revenue goals. Motivated by poverty alleviation and women empowerment, as well as driven by targets and results, you will play a vital role in securing the financial sustainability of a dynamic mission-driven organisation. To achieve this, you will leverage our current donor base, our active charities in Australia (DGR1) and the US (501c), and your networks and expertise.

Responsibilities

Strategy and Philanthropy

  • In consultation with the Director of Philanthropy and CEO develop strategy for engaging foundations, HNW donors, individual donors and grants/prizes.
  • In consultation with the Director of Philanthropy and CEO input to annual budget forecast to inform income and expenditure decisions.
  • Develop and manage a pipeline for foundations, HNW and major grants from global markets including Australia, US, South Asia and Europe.
  • Manage quality grant submissions for eligible opportunities working with relevant teams across the organisation.
  • Lead the execution of fundraising appeals including EOFY and festive appeals.
  • Achieve or exceed fundraising targets against budget.
  • Manage a portfolio of existing philanthropic stakeholder relationships to optimise donor experience and increase giving.
  • Support Partnerships Manager to develop and promote opportunities for corporate engagement and Fellowship alumni engagement.
  • Manage quality and timely grant acquittals and donor reports.
  • Manage global third party giving platforms eg. Good Company, Benevity to grow revenue through these channels.
  • Act as a key point of contact in Australia for general enquiries, providing outstanding customer experience.
  • Recruit and supervise volunteers as required to meet the resourcing needs of the Philanthropy team during peak periods.
  • Support the Director of Philanthropy with major donor proposals and communications.
  • Support the Director of Philanthropy to prepare reports to the board of directors.

Marketing and Communications

  • Support the Marketing and Communications Manager with donor-centric communications including blogs, social media and annual report stories.
  • Work with in-country local impact teams to turn data and stories to donor engagement content.

Finance, Compliance and Reporting

  • Manage donor thank you and timely donor receipting on Salesforce CRM.
  • Oversee the integrity of donor data in Salesforce CRM to ensure accuracy of the information for all engagements.
  • Lead business governance and compliance activity for AU and US entities including fundraising licenses, ATO and ACNC compliance.
  • Support accounts receivable and accounts payable for Pollinate Group Australia to support the global Finance function.

Key Selection Criteria

  • 5+ years of experience, with a demonstrated track record of successful fundraising (expertise in trusts and foundations, individual giving, and corporate sponsorship preferred).
  • Ability to build authentic relationships with diverse stakeholders with proven, strong facilitation skills and the ability to make asks and raise significant funds.
  • Strong capabilities in gathering information, synthesizing, and crafting compelling and relevant proposals; knowledge of data collection, proposal writing and grant management.
  • Demonstrated results in securing funding from trusts and foundations and individual donors.
  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter and a confident leader.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to thrive in a fluid, entrepreneurial environment, and willingness to “roll up the sleeves” and extend beyond formal responsibilities as needed for the work.
  • Demonstrated commitment to or interest in international development/climate/human rights issues.
  • Knowledge of the US philanthropy market is highly desirable.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required.
