Finance and Audit Committee Youth Member (voluntary)

Plan International Australia

The FAC is a sub-committee of the full board. The role of the FAC is to monitor and advise the Board on matters to do with the organisation’s finances, audit, reserves, investments, risk, capital expenditure and information technology. The board encourages the development of diversity within its committees through the appointment of youth representatives.

We are looking for a new committee member who is keen to share and promote the goals of Plan and who has the skills, energy and capacity to add value to the committee. The purpose of this role is to provide Plan with contemporary views on business finance in Australia as well as strengthen Plan’s youth participation at a Board sub-committee level.

The FAC meets for five core meetings each year, ahead of each board meeting. Additional meetings may be called from time to time as needs dictate. Occasional additional support on such topics as research may be requested.

This is a volunteer role open to finance professionals under the age of 25 and is offered on an initial 12 month basis. The candidate must demonstrate their employer’s support for this appointment. Meetings are generally blended between face-to-face and Zoom.

We are seeking a young person with:

  • A degree in commerce, finance or accounting and who will be pursuing their career in this field
  • Holds or currently studying for a professional accounting qualification such as CPA, CA or CIMA
  • Ability to attend all or most committee meetings
  • The confidence to interact and add value with Board Members, the Executive Team and Management in committee meetings
  • A demonstrated interest in social welfare, child rights or community involvement will be well regarded
  • A commitment to Plan International Australia’s values and our mission to advance justice for children and equality for girls
