Narang Bir-rong Aboriginal Corporation (NBAC) was established in August 2018 to ensure the management and provision of Aboriginal services were delivered by an Aboriginal Community Controlled Agency. The delivery of these services however dates back to 2008 when the service originally began.
NBAC provides Aboriginal specific out-of-home care, family support and family preservation services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people and their families in Western Sydney, Nepean Blue Mountains and connected areas.
NBAC recruits, trains, and supports Aboriginal out of home carers and kin, and case manages children and young people in out of home care. Narang Bir-rong believes it is critical to place Aboriginal children and young people in care situations that support their individual identity, self-esteem, and that meet their social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
As part of the Recruitment Team, the Carer Recruitment Officer has a responsibility for recruiting, training and assessing potential carers for the Long-Term Care Program, as well as supporting the need for emergency placement referrals. It is the aim of the recruitment and carer support team to have a pool of carers sufficient in number to be able to meet the needs of children coming into the program to be matched with appropriate carers.

Reporting to the Program Manager of Carer Recruitment, you will ensure provision of comprehensive recruitment and assessment of carers, coordinate general recruitment of carers, and develop recruiting material for the recruitment of carers as necessary. You will implement NBAC policies and procedures with reference to client rights, maintain and develop co-operative working relationships between NBAC and the Government and Non-Government sectors and work effectively with other NBAC programs to provide an integrated service delivery to children, young people and families in need.
To be considered for this role, a valid NSW Driver’s license, probity checks including NSW Working with Children’s check & National Police Check and evidence of COVID-19 Vaccinations are required.
