The Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC) is a leading social justice law and policy centre. We are an independent, non-profit organisation that works with people and communities who are marginalised and facing disadvantage. We work to build a fairer, stronger society by helping to change laws, policies and practices that cause injustice and inequality.
Our priorities include reducing homelessness, First Nations justice, climate change and social justice, equality and non-discrimination, asylum seeker health rights and the fair use of police powers.
Reporting to the Program Director, Truth and Accountability, you will support the day-to-day implementation of the Towards Truth project, researching, documenting and recording legislation and policy that has had an impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Additionally, you will:
You have a proven understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander history, culture and society with solid research and analytical skills and the capacity to develop relationships, particularly with First Nations communities. A law degree is desirable.
