PRFC require Contact Supervisors across the metropolitan area of Sydney, and in particular Western Sydney, South East, and the North Shore. This position allows flexible weekday and weekend hours. All applicants must have availability at a minimum on Saturdays.

About the Role

PRFC office personnel arrange the contact visit. The tasks for Contact Supervisors include:

  • Providing support and supervision to the child /young person and family throughout the visit
  • Monitoring the child/young person's safety, well-being and welfare
  • Managing tension and conflict
  • Identifying ways to enhance interactions between the child/person and family
  • Monitoring and recording interactions between parent / significant others and child / young person
  • Making recommendations relating to aspects of the contact to achieve better outcomes
  • Providing a report on the contact session

PRFC provides professional supervision and training, flexible working conditions, and career opportunities.

As a contact supervisor you will be working with vulnerable children and young people in out-of-home care and communities, and children and young people in families involved in the family law area.

The person for this role has a strong commitment to children, families and community, possesses a high level of resilience, and seeks to be part of a team of skilled and dedicated professionals.

Criteria

Tertiary qualifications relevant to working with children / young people and families, e.g., social work, psychology, welfare, youth work

  • Minimum diploma qualification in a child/family related field
  • Experience working with children and young people
  • An understanding of out-of-home (foster) care services, mandatory reporting requirements and the laws governing NSW Child Protection Services or preparedness to learn
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including a capacity for empathy, compassion and understanding
  • Current drivers licence and own comprehensively insured / reliable motor vehicle
  • Own mobile phone, computer and access to the internet
  • Excellent observational and writing skills
  • First aid certificate or preparedness to undertake such training

Remuneration

$30-$50 per hour + superannuation, mileage + other
