Marine Communications Campaigner - Flexible location

The Pew Charitable Trusts

On behalf of the Save Our Marine Life (SOML) campaign, The Pew Charitable Trusts and the Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS) invites applications for the newly created position of Marine Communications Campaigner.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong digital campaigning, media and events skills to play a key part in the campaigns for Australia’s marine protection efforts.

Marine protection campaign

Australia is responsible for the third largest area of ocean on Earth. Our waters span the tropical, temperate and Sub-Antarctic, and we have more unique species than almost any other country in the world. More than 85% of Australians live near the sea, and healthy marine life is central to our lifestyle, our livelihoods and our economy.

However, our marine life faces ever-increasing threats from climate change, industrial fishing practices, pollution and more.

Marine parks play a crucial role in keeping oceans healthy. Australia has a number of gaps in its marine parks network which still need to be addressed, in order for its marine parks network to be effective. Further, Australia’s leadership internationally in this area could help make a difference to the global performance on marine parks. AMCS, The Pew Charitable Trusts and SOML address this with a variety of science-based, community-led campaigns around the nation.
