About the role

The organisation has a positive reputation and a stable foundation from which the next CEO can take Carrie's Place from good to great! We are seeking a people focused leader who will empower, support and develop the team of 35-40 in an engaging manner. As the organisation is of a smaller scale (but with a big heart!), the CEO will need to lead by example, roll their sleeves up and create future vision, strategy and business practices that ensure consistent delivery of services and sustainable growth for Carrie's Place.

Reporting to the Governance Committee, the CEO will have strategic and operational responsibility for the following key areas:

  • Governance and Risk - creation of fit for purpose frameworks, policies and procedures;

  • Financial Management - budgeting and financial oversight;
  • Stakeholder Management - government relations, advocacy, community/grant providers and donors; and
  • Marketing and PR - steering and enhancing the brand awareness of the organisation.

The position requires an innovative thinker who appropriately challenges the way things are done and doesn't just settle for the status quo. Your style will be approachable, personable and represent the organisation in a professional manner. Your communication skills will enable you to engage with key stakeholders including various levels of government, network groups and community representatives. Building the image of the organisation as a responsible and strong contributor to the various local communities in which Carrie's Place provides services is another key component of this role.

We are seeking an experienced leader who would thrive in the role of CEO of an organisation that has heart and soul. You may not have yet been a CEO but have the broad business skills required for the role and a genuine passion for leading an organisation that is changing the lives of vulnerable members of our local communities.
