Whilst the organisation sees affordable housing as a cornerstone for ending social disadvantage the challenges brought about by COVID have had a major impact on housing and homelessness services. Expanding their services to meet the clinical needs of AOD individuals will further bridge the gap in supporting those individuals to become fully functional members of their family and the broader community.

The Role

As Senior Manager – Operational Services you will be based in Cairns and report to the CEO. This is a unique opportunity to work towards creating a holistic approach to the organisation’s support around housing and homelessness and AOD Services in North Queensland. More broadly, the role will make a significant contribution to the overall leadership and strategic development of the broader organisation.

Responsible for the assurance of leadership, peer supervision, and complex clinical and case management oversight and advice across Housing and Homelessness, Public intoxication, Alcohol and other drugs programs – you will understandably be able to highlight experience in AOD clinical services, including a proven ability to work within a team based multi-disciplinary model.

This senior role will lead stakeholder engagement both internal and external to the organisation, manage project work, grow program services to meet community needs with a strong outcome and service delivery focus.

Selection Criteria includes:

  • Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively with relevant Government Departments such as the Department of Housing and Public Works, Department of Communities and Disability Services and the Department of Child Safety Youth and Women.
  • Demonstrated experience in assessment, care planning, staff management and coordination with experience in AOD and/or Community Mental Health services.
  • Proven ability to implement change and develop direction in clinical practice utilising evidence-based research, evaluation of appropriate therapeutic practices, and effective oversight
  • Experience in the provision of adult and youth housing and homelessness, drug support and/or mental health services.
  • A demonstrated understanding of the service models around Housing and homelessness and AOD service delivery.
  • Proven ability to implement change and develop direction in practice utilising evidence-based research, evaluation of appropriate therapeutic practices, and effective oversight.

About You

Degree qualified or higher in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology or other recognised clinical areas in psychology you will embed a values-based leadership approach and ensure that programs are operated in accordance with service delivery, streamlined processes, wise management of resources and financial management whilst delivering outputs aligned to fostering a culture of commitment to excellence in client service delivery.

You will have a strong understanding of the issues impacting homelessness; including physical and mental health issues, alcohol, and drug abuse, acquired brain injury, trauma, incarceration etc underpinned by extensive experience working in or with the Housing and Homelessness and AOD sector. Developing strategic plans, operational objectives, and executive level secretariat support will be underpinned by strong skills in research and the ability to present your knowledge of service systems relating to homelessness in North Queensland to a broad audience.

Renowned for your initiative and dedication to improving the lives of those less fortunate - you will have excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills, a proven ability to work autonomously with limited direction, be self-motivated, and someone who has effective problem-solving and negotiation skills.

A six-figure executive remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate together with relocation assistance and eligibility for the NFP tax benefits.
