The Physical Disability Council of NSW (PDCN) is a not-for-profit, non-government organisation and the peak representative organisation for people with physical disability in New South Wales.

We are currently recruiting for our Lived Experience Advisory Panel.

Panel members provide PDCN’s policy team with information and expertise on issues relating to the lived experience of people with physical disability, enhancing the effectiveness and impact of the organisation’s systemic advocacy work.

If you are over 16, live in NSW, have lived experience of physical disability, and a passion for social justice and equity, we are keen to hear from you!

There are several panel vacancies.

This is a remote, 12-month contract role (participants may be required to travel to the Glebe PDCN office as a one-off) paid at $75p/h plus expenses.

Key Selection Criteria

• Lived experience of physical disability or experience as a carer for a young person (under 16 years) with physical disability
• High level communication skills
• Capacity to participate as part of a small team
• Commitment to social justice and equity
• Confidence to engage with media on issues relevant to people with physical disability (training can be provided)
• Strong analytical skills
• High level organisational skills
• An understanding of the rights-based model of disability
• Capacity to use zoom and other online technology incl. emails

Desirable

• Previous media experience
• Previous experience engaging with Government in an advocacy capacity
• Located in a regional area
• Capacity to undertake limited travel when required

• Current Working with Children Check
• COVID 19 Vaccination
