Community Development Officer (Braking the Cycle) - Cairns / Edmonton

  • $24.55 - $25.62 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications - junior rates may apply)

We are currently seeking passionate and keen Community Development Officer to work across our PCYC Cairns and Edmonton Youth Club. If you are enthusiastic and have a gusto for increasing youth involvement in programs and events, then we want you!

Braking the Cycle (BTC) is our driver mentor program designed to support learner drivers without access to a supervisor or registered vehicle to complete their logbook hours. The aim of the program is to provide young people with increased employment opportunities and driver education.

Your New Role

Reporting to the Youth Club Manager, you will be responsible for the implementation, delivery and ongoing management of the Braking the Cycle Driving Program within the Youth Club, including the recruitment and training of Mentors for the Program. This position cultivates positive outcomes and opportunities both personally and as a community.

About You

  • Working With Children Check (Blue Card) No Card, No Start and Restricted Person legislation applies to all applicants
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably with the community sector
  • Minimum Certificate III in youth work, community development/welfare, human services or related discipline or equivalent level of experience in social and community sector (desirable, not required)
  • Hold a light rigid driver’s licence and a Restricted Drivers' Authority (or ability to obtain)
  • Hold a current First Aid and CPR certificate (or able to obtain)
  • Please note: All PCYC employees are required to complete a National Police Check upon commencement.
