C&R will be provided to clients that are assessed as complex at the Intake and Assessment function. These clients will account for around 30% of the proposed Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) clientele and will supplement other AOD treatment services over a long period whilst also supporting clients requiring enhanced support during treatment.
Clients will have an established Individual Treatment Plan (ITP) which will be developed by the Assessment function. The ITP will be the foundation from which the Clinician will develop and implement an appropriate course of treatment and develop a more comprehensive longer-term care coordination response and plan based on the client assessed needs and in consultation with the client and family, carer, significant other. The Clinician will be engaged with clients throughout the recovery journey and post exit for up to 12 months.
The Counsellor will operate from an ‘evidence-based’ approach which assumes that the basis for the treatment approach adopted with a particular client should be based on an integration of best existing research evidence; clinical wisdom and expertise; and client circumstances, needs and expectations.
Counselling will be provided to clients in most instances via face to face appointments, with the options of online, ‘Skype, phone, group and day programs. Phone and Skype appointments will be provided for remote clients between scheduled face to face appointments. Clients will be assessed as either standard or complex and this will result in either brief interventions or longer term interventions including group work. For those that are complex, they will already have an ITP and a Care Recovery Plan which will be used to inform the clinical assessment in order to determine the client’s evidence based counselling requirements.
