PAW Media is a Not-For-Profit Aboriginal Media Organisation and charity based in the remote community of Yuendumu, NT which works closely with an affiliated 'for profit' company called PAW Productions.
PAW is recruiting for an Assistant Business Manager on an initial 3-month contract, with potential for professional development and significant options for career advancement.
Working under the General Manager and Operations Manager, the successful applicant will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations, and planning the development of PAW Productions and PAW Media and Communications. A major part of the position will involve providing administrative support to increase the media production potential, and the local engagement, of those two business operations.
The applicant must be a self-starter, with the confidence to take responsibility for tasks and to work autonomously, under direction from senior management. The applicant will have previous managerial experience in a small to medium organisation and be comfortable with writing business plans and policies and using software such as Xero (or comparable accounting software), Microsoft suite and Mac computers.
Previous work for an Aboriginal Organisation or NFP/charity in the Indigenous and/or community development sectors will be highly regarded. Experience of working, and living, in a remote Aboriginal Community would also be very advantageous. Media-related experience and skills using Creative Cloud are beneficial but not essential. Ability to drive a manual vehicle or 4WD is preferred.
The position requires the successful applicant to live remotely and calls for strong leadership and teamwork. Working in a culturally-diverse space demands patience and understanding, whilst other challenges will require a resourceful, sociable, and adaptable person to succeed. However, for the right candidate this is a rewarding and potentially life-changing role, which may require travel through Aboriginal Lands rarely visited by outsiders.
The position offers unique opportunities for career development and will allow you to become a part of a very special community, contributing to its growth, and developing an understanding of Warlpiri and other local cultures.
COVID-19 considerations: PAW Media has a Covid-19 safety plan in place and will adhere to all government directions and protocols as any situations unfold.
