Role Summary

The Lead Measurement and Evaluation will drive the measurement and analysis of the outcomes of the Foundation’s various activities, and support the communication and incorporation of actionable insights learned across various teams and stakeholders

Key Responsibilities

Planning and design

  • Design, implement and commission monitoring & evaluation frameworks and projects
  • Adapt evaluation design and frameworks as analysis and research around cycles of disadvantage advance foundation strategy
  • Co-design inclusion of evaluation activities in new project proposals

Execution

  • Oversee impact measurement and outcomes analysis relating to foundation partnerships, grants, and impact investments
  • Build capacity of internal teams to carry out integrated evaluation as part of scheduled reviews
  • Provide technical input in the development of monitoring and reporting plans (data collection methods, survey instruments, data management, analysis) in collaboration with other analysts and managers
  • Engage and manage external providers for evaluation projects, including critical review of findings

Documentation and dissemination

  • Document emerging insights, lessons learned and best practices to strengthen foundation practices regarding outcomes and impact
  • Produce reports and analysis to disseminate knowledge for public benefit and to inform internal strategy and practice
  • Support development and completion of impact reporting for the foundation
  • Ensure the high quality, rigour, timeliness and targeted dissemination of evaluation outputs internally and externally

Personal Characteristics, Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent quantitative analysis and data management skills
  • Advanced expertise using a variety of qualitative and quantitative evaluation tools, methods and frameworks to generate impact
  • A demonstrated understanding of evaluation in a foundation context
  • Advanced skills of research and analysis in at least one of the following areas, with applied knowledge of the others: cost-benefit analysis, social science methods, policy analysis, statistical analysis and geospatial analysis
  • Understanding and appreciation of ‘socially inclusive’ approaches to evaluation, such as First Nations knowledge and GEDSI strategies
  • Content knowledge in domains relevant to poverty and disadvantage; preferred experience in areas of employment, criminal justice, education and training, housing, early childhood development and/or community development
  • Strong project management skills including the ability to deliver across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Comfort managing relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders and working across multiple teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Highly organised and methodical with strong attention to detail and process
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, complex and agile environments
  • Highly resourceful and motivated, able to take initiative and collaborate effectively
  • Self-starter with a “roll up the sleeves” attitude in independent and teamwork
