The Hospital Research Foundation Group is seeking an outstanding individual to join the Parkinson's SA team as Clinical Nurse Consultant (Neuro & Movement disorders). 

The Hospital Research Foundation Group is an impactful and dynamic not-for-profit, which supports health and medical research at hospitals across South Australia. Parkinson's SA is one of The Hospital Research Foundation Group charities.  

Parkinson’s South Australia and Northern Territory is a not-for-profit organisation that has provided support and information to people living with Parkinson’s and other movement disorders, their carers, family, community and health professionals for over 30 years. 

The organisation represents and supports the 8,000 people with Parkinson’s in SA and their family members. The organisation provides support across the continuum of the condition, from diagnosis, through the early stages and throughout the progression of the disease. Parkinson’s SA provides expert information and support services that no private or government agency offers. 

Reporting to the Executive Director Parkinson's SA, this full time position provides clinical leadership, project management, specialist neurological clinical care, case management, education, and evaluation of care. This may be in community health sites, Aged Care facilities, acute settings, or the patient’s home. 

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to generate new knowledge about the nursing management of Parkingson's disease by understand and directing research. 

Role responsibilities include:

  • Establish a community-based nurse-lead professional practice framework based on best practice models and contribute specific expertise to nursing practice through clinical protocols and standards development, endorsement, implementation and evaluation.
  • Utilise available information systems to inform decision making, evaluate outcomes and convey information to staff;
  • Provide expert neurological clinical nursing care and interventions and/or individual case management to people with Parkinson's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases;
  • Leading nursing clinical practice within the professional practice framework established by the candidate and the allied health professionals of Parkinson’s SA
  • Contribute clinical neurological expertise to learning environments, which may include individual / team capability development and / or post registration clinical teaching

You will ideally have:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate
  • Registered Nurse with at least three years post registration experience
  • Demonstrated competence in Neurology Nursing and the management of people with Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases in accordance with the relevant standards
  • Experience in the supervision of students, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses
