PACFA, the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia, is the leading peak body for the counselling and psychotherapy profession in Australia and a professional association for practitioners, educators, students and related professionals.

PACFA’s College of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healing Practice (CATSIHP) aims to increase access to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander healers and practitioners, strengthen the delivery of accredited Indigenous healing programs, and support the development of a skilled qualified workforce with skills and capacity to progress Indigenous healing practices.

PACFA is recruiting a part-time project officer to work closely with the Leadership Group of the CATSIHP to develop an online ‘Clearing House’ of information that identifies training and education programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander healers and practitioners, and opportunities for scholarships for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people interested in training in this field.

The Project Officer will also identify and promote educational resources on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healing Practices. These resources will support CATSIHP to develop new Training Standards for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healing Practices.

Reporting to the PACFA Line Manager and working closely with the CATSIHP Leadership Group, the Project Officer will help to improve access to education in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healing Practices, and support the development of high standards for training in this field.

Applicants will have relevant tertiary qualifications and/or knowledge and experience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healing Practices. Applicants will have strong written and verbal communication skills and experience in collecting and collating and presenting information that it accessible to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities.

The pro-rata salary is $46,800 per annum for 22.5 hours per week which equates to a full-time salary of $78,000. As a health promotion charity, PACFA can offer generous salary packaging arrangements. This is a twelve-month fixed term role. The position could possibly be extended, subject to availability of ongoing funding.
