Our TFCO Story so far…

In QLD we began delivering TFCO in October 2018 with one team - delivering TFCO–C for children aged 7-11 in Toowoomba. We have now expanded our delivery to grow our reach, delivering a second TFCO program from Ipswich which is where you will be based as the Teacher in the program.

Treatment Foster Care Oregon (TFCO) is an evidence-based, internationally successful program providing an alternative to residential care and getting children and young people aged 7-17 with complex behaviours back to a stable, family life.

The purpose of the Teacher role is to provide educational support to the children and young people in the program and work closely with the school and treatment team to support the child to achieve success in educational settings.

What you will do:

  • Implement education plans for children
  • Guidance and support for students and teachers
  • Supporting the child’s behaviour so they can learn
  • Improve educational participation
  • Improve educational outcomes
  • Improve learning outcomes
  • Assist other schoolteachers and staff and help them respond to behavioural, social and learning needs

Who we are looking for:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Teaching or Education
  • We take a team approach so someone willing to share and engage in a team
  • Proven classroom teaching experience
  • Experience working with young people aged 7-11 with challenging behaviour
  • Strong administrative skills and experience
  • Expert understanding of the QLD teaching standards and both behavioural and learning needs of students
  • Experience working as part of a treatment team
  • Curriculum expertise
  • Supporting those at risk of poor learning outcomes and children in out of home care
  • Current driving license (essential)
  • Understanding of a broad range of issues that impact on the education system
