Your role:

Treatment Foster Care Oregon (TFCO) is an evidence-based program providing an alternative to residential care supporting reunification outcomes for children and young people aged 7-11.

The role of the Teacher in this model is to provide educational support to the children and young people in the program and work closely with the school and treatment team to support the child to achieve success in educational settings.

What you will do:

  • Implement education plans for children
  • On call duties for carers and children 24/7 if in crisis on a roster
  • Guidance and support for students and teachers
  • Supporting the child's behaviour so they can learn
  • Improve educational participation
  • Improve educational outcomes
  • Improve learning outcomes
  • Assist other schoolteachers and staff and help them respond to behavioural, social and learning needs

Who we are looking for:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Teaching or Education
  • We take a team approach so someone willing to share and engage in a team
  • Proven classroom teaching experience
  • Experience working with young people aged 7-11 with challenging behaviour
  • Strong administrative skills and experience
  • Expert understanding of the NSW teaching standards and both behavioural and learning needs of students
  • Curriculum expertise
  • Supporting those at risk of poor learning outcomes and children in out of home care
  • Current driving license (essential)
  • Understanding of a broad range of issues that impact on the education system

OzChild offers:

  • Part-time permanent position
  • $71,000 per year plus super plus salary packaging
  • Flexible hours and location, work 4 or 5 days to fit in the hours
  • Hours are 30.4 per week, this is a 0.8 FTE role
  • Reduced working hours during school holidays
  • Two offices, work in Campbelltown and Blacktown
