The role:

As the Ozchild Stepping Stones to School Facilitator you will possess both service delivery and community development skills. Stepping Stones To School aims to reduce the barriers to successful transitions to kindergarten and school which are often experienced by ‘at risk’ children in vulnerable family settings.

The position is based in Warrnambool and the facilitator will work with the Glenelg Stepping Stones Coordinator and the Early Years Team Leader to build the program across the region.

Your responsibilities:

  • Work with kindergarten and primary school educators to strengthen relationships and build shared understanding of ‘school readiness’
  • Maintain and develop relationships with key stakeholder to help grow the program
  • Provide professional development opportunities to Early Years Practitioners
  • Work one on one with families to support parents with school readiness and access to services
  • Referring families to external support services such as allied health
  • Ongoing case management

Who we are looking for:

  • Ideally someone with bachelor’s in Social Work or Early Years Education is highly desirable- Diploma level with extensive sector experience may be considered.
  • Understanding conceptual frameworks around Community Development
  • Knowledge of or experience working in the education sector would be advantageous
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal
  • Stakeholder engagement promoting the program and encouraging referrals
  • Experienced in working outside of the office environment in the community with vulnerable families
  • Experience working with Aboriginal families would be highly regarded
