About the role:

As the Senior Carer Support Worker within the wider foster care team your main role will be to deliver our national Thriving Families carer strategy, supervision and support of carers and the placement of children with suitable carers.

The purpose of the position is to improve outcomes for children and young people by delivering services and improved program outcomes through the support, supervision, and development of carers in the Foster Care program as well as OzChild staff.

In Victoria more than 10,000 children and young people are currently placed in Out-of-Home Care. The reasons are often complex and varied. Our Carer Support Worker position is designed to support these carers allowing for a more targeted service delivery generating much better outcomes for cares and young people.

Who we are looking for:

  • Tertiary Qualification in, Human Services, Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology with experience of training and assessment and foster care
  • Shared Stories Share Lives Training (Shared Lives)
  • High level knowledge and experience improving outcomes for children in foster care
  • Subject matter expertise in working with carers, improving delivery and managing the quality of program in foster care
  • Current driving license (essential)
  • Comprehensive understanding of foster care and the desire to do what works

What you will do:

  • Improve outcomes through support, supervision and development of carers
  • Continually improve the carer household experience
  • Set carers up for success
  • Annual reviews and compliance checks as well as reports and reviews
  • Provide informal peer support, coaching and mentoring
  • Carer assessment and placement matching
