The role:

School Focused Youth Service offers assistance to schools and community organisations to support young people at risk of disengaging from their educational placement.

As part of the School Focused Youth Service program, you will use your community development or educational skills to deliver projects that address and support the needs of at-risk young people. You will coordinate community-based networks, partnerships and services that support young people and improve student well-being, resilience and educational outcomes.

What you will do:

  • Full time contract position until 18th December 2020 based in Traralgon.
  • Work with at risk youth to ensure that they are well supported in their communities and continue to be engaged in education.
  • Offer assistance to schools and community organisations to support young people at risk of disengaging from education.
  • Ensure at risk factors are addressed or mitigated.
  • Create partnerships and pathways between schools and community organisations.
  • Coordinate provision of community-based services to address the needs of at risk young people.

Who we are looking for:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Community Services Work, Youth Work or a related discipline that is recognised in Australia
  • Experience in community development and/or coordinated delivery of educational or support services to vulnerable young people
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively with a range of professionals, including schools and agencies working with young people in service development and delivery.
  • Knowledge and experience of a range of relevant intervention strategies and frameworks including children’s developmental needs, working with diversity, drug and alcohol recovery, the cycle of violence, crisis planning

OzChild offers:

  • A full-time permanent maximum term contract
  • Short term till December 18th 2020
  • Hours generally 9am-5pm
  • Salary is level 5 SCHCADS award
  • Salary packaging up to $15,900
