OzChild have an interesting opportunity that has arisen in their Kinship team as a Kinship First Supports Assessment Worker
First Supports was launched as part of the new kinship care model. First Supports aims to support newly established kinship care placements through the provision of early comprehensive assessments, brokerage and access to increased supports.
Kinship Care is the preferred home based care program for children and young people. It allows the child to stay connected to family or the extended family network. This role, where you will assess the very environment in which a child will be cared for is integral to the timely and comprehensive delivery of that service to children
As the First Support Assessment Worker your role is to provide timely comprehensive assessment and identify needs, high level skills are required to engage and complete assessments so someone with experience in the sector having worked with carers or in child protection is desirable.
A degree-level qualification in a discipline such as social work or psychology, a diploma will also be considered if backed by experience
Knowledge and experience working within the out of home care sector would be highly regarded
Demonstrated high levels of engagement with at-risk families
Good communication skills and the ability to build relationships and rapport with families and young people
Risk assessment and safety planning
Current driving license
