The Role

Funded through the Attorney General Department this permanent, full time position is part of the Children’s Contact Service part of the Family Law Services integrated suite of programs. It holds a critical role focussed on providing strength based, child focused, family wellbeing, parenting skills and development support as well as counselling and group work activities for families experiencing conflict post separation.

Our office is based at the end of the Great Ocean Road close to whale watching, rocky shores and some of the most dramatic coastal landscape in the country. It is an adventure just to live in Warrnambool!

Who we are looking for:

  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: Family and community services, group work facilitation, counselling.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills -
    • Engagement and rapport building,
    • Empathy and reflective skills,
    • Supporting parents to develop skills
    • Assess risk and maintain the safety of children
  • Flexibility to work outside of the normal 9am-5pm hours and weekends when required
  • Outreach to Portland, Hamilton and Camperdown.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or a related discipline
  • Training: Child Inclusive Practice Model and Triple PPP highly regarded and desirable
  • Experience in child welfare or child protection
  • A post graduate certificate in Mediation and Conflict Resolution is highly desirable but not essential

OzChild offers:

  • A full-time permanent position
  • 38 hours per week
  • SCHCADS level 5 which equates to around $84,000 per year plus super
  • Salary packaging up to $15,900
  • Primary office location is Warrnambool
