POSITION IDENTIFICATION

  • TITLE: Peel Advocacy and Support Services (PASS)
  • AWARD: Social Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award
  • RATE OF PAY: Social and Community Services Employee Award - Level 4
  • WORK TYPE: Fixed Term contract until end June 2022
  • HOURS OF WORK: 38 hours per week

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Community Team Leader
  • Operations Manager
  • Chief Executive Officer

ROLE OF THE POSITION

To provide support and advocacy to clients through the court system.

STATEMENT OF DUTIES

  • Provide support to clients that require a Family Violence Restraining Order.
  • Refer and advocate for clients to enhance their well-being and safety.
  • Provide ongoing support through the court process.
  • Attend court to provide support to existing clients and new clients.
  • Conduct client intakes, safety planning, risk assessments and develop support plans.
  • Collect and record stats on Excel spreadsheets and relevant recording system.
  • Ability to complete reports required by management and funding bodies.
  • Ensure all outcomes required by funding bodies and OVIS are being met.
  • Liaise with Police, Courts and other key stakeholders.

Professional Development

  • Maintain own professional development through performance management and participation in relevant training/workshops.
  • Keep up to date with changes to the law re: Family Violence Restraining Orders and Family and Domestic Violence.
  • Attend Supervision with Community Team Leader.
  • Attend relevant meetings.
  • Maintain professional behaviour whilst representing OVIS.

Administration

  • Maintain effective data systems.
  • Ability to complete reports required by management and funding bodies.

Other

  • Comply with legislative requirements and procedures in relation to: Occupational Safety and Health, Risk Management, Refuge Standards, including Code of Conduct and Philosophy, Equal Opportunity and other legislation/policies relevant to the crisis accommodation and welfare industry and/or position.
  • Other duties as directed.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential Criteria

  • Diploma equivalent education level in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Family and Domestic Violence.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Excellent time management skills and able to prioritise work efficiently.
  • Have confidence to attend court and build rapport with clients.
  • Ability to network/communicate with community members, court staff and funding bodies.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience or knowledge of Family Violence Restraining Orders and the court system.

CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  • Australian Federal Police Clearance.
  • Valid WA Driver’s License.
  • Working with Children Check.
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status.
  • First Aid certificate.
