Ovarian Cancer Australia (OCA) is the leading national body for ovarian cancer in Australia. Founded in 2001 by a group of people personally affected by ovarian cancer, our vision is to save lives and ensure that no woman with ovarian cancer walks alone. We work to ensure that:

BACKGROUND

In this exciting role is you will lead all consumer-facing marketing and communications campaigns across awareness; fundraising & support services. You will be responsible for continuing to improve the brand health and awareness of OCA as well as increase engagement in all services and activities we offer.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead Marketing & Awareness Campaigns

  • Ensure OCA’s brand identity across all communication.
  • Lead OCA’s relationship with the nominated creative, PR, digital, media and design agencies to develop OCA’s strategic campaigns that drive revenue and increase brand awareness.
  • Lead all marketing and communications strategies for OCA and work cross functionally with departments including partnerships/sponsorships, fundraising and support.
  • Lead the development of a communications plan and media strategy for all of OCA’s campaigns including Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and Teal Ribbon Giving Day (February), Overies for Ovaries and World Ovarian Cancer Day (May); and other major partnership initiatives/campaigns e.g. Work out for Women
  • Lead the Ambassador program and identification of new ambassadors who are a brand match.
  • Together with our external PR Agency, develop the marketing and communications strategy for annual campaigns including: Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and Teal Ribbon Giving Day (February), Overies for Ovaries and World Ovarian Cancer Day (May); and additional partnership initiatives/campaigns and also manage media liaison.
  • Together with the Director of Fundraising develop the marketing and communications strategy to support annual fundraising and giving campaigns.
  • Work closely with the sponsorships and partnerships team to assist with bespoke partner communications.

Media, Social Media and Digital Platforms

  • Plan and manage OCA’s advertising inventory and work with the agency and partners to maximise share of voice.
  • Work with agency and partners to negotiate additional pro-bono media.
  • Work with agency to develop advertising assets and deliver them on time to meet schedules.
  • Oversee the social media strategy and delivery and monitor its impact providing guidance to the Communications Specialist.

Stakeholder relationships

  • Provide advice and input into the Board and sub committees.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key media contacts to raise Ovarian Cancer Australia's profile and promote our strategy, people, programs and activity.
  • Develop new and strengthen existing relationships with relevant partner organisations to ensure open lines of communication and proactive responses to issues and opportunities.

Reporting, evaluation and accountability

  • Develop appropriate metrics to measure the impact of Ovarian Cancer Australia's brand, marketing, communications, media and stakeholder engagement strategies to inform reporting to the CEO, Board and DMC.
  • Provide assistance and input to optimise OCA’s CRM system together with the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Manage the communications and awareness budget within defined delegations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new developments in marketing and communications and a working knowledge of ovarian cancer relevant to the role.

General

  • Provide guidance, support, leadership and manage the performance of direct reports.
  • Contribute to the development of Ovarian Cancer Australia’s strategy and planning.
  • Contribute to the culture of decision making including cooperation, collaboration and shared accountability.
  • Contribute to evaluation data collections as relevant to areas of responsibility and provide information for routine and ad hoc reporting purposes.
  • Other duties as directed.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing and communications.
  • At least ten years' experience in marketing and communications
  • Strong organisational, administrative and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills and the ability to build productive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Experience leading and implementing brand and marketing campaigns across all platforms to achieve set targets.
  2. Experience leading and implementing media and communications campaigns across all platforms to achieve set targets.
  3. Experience leading and implementing creative and innovative social and digital campaigns to achieve set targets (e.g. interactive websites, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, etc)
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  5. Experience in managing and motivating others.
  6. Strong budget, project management, organisational, administrative and time management skills.
  7. Demonstrated capacity to work proactively and strategically.
