This role will provide support and supervision to the Youth Peer Workers who provide support to young people accessing services at headspace Centres in Glenroy, Craigieburn, Werribee, Sunshine and Melton and the Orygen Parkville Hub.
Youth Peer Workers are committed, passionate young people who have personal lived experience of mental ill health. This may also include challenges with physical ill health, alcohol and other drug use, work and study challenges or caring for someone with mental ill health. Youth Peer Workers intentionally share this lived experience to young people (aged 12 – 25 years) in order to guide young people through their mental health journey and/or supporting them through their time with headspace.
The why behind what we do is important. We believe that all young people deserve to grow into adulthood with optimal mental health. Everything we do is focused on this outcome. Orygen is leading and redefining what’s possible in global research, policy, education and clinical care. Find out more on our website.
As part of the Regional Model, the Youth Peer Worker Lead focuses on the ‘co-delivery’ component, facilitating the involvement of young people and families with a lived experience of mental ill-health and providing support to young people.
Reporting to the Director - Clinical Service Innovation, the Youth Peer Work Lead - Primary Services will develop the Youth Peer Work program, including recruiting, training and orientating a pool of Youth Peer Workers, developing resources to support the delivery of youth peer work sessions, and providing support and supervision to the Youth Peer Workers at headspace centres and the Parkville Hub.
This is a part-time 0.5 FTE fixed term contract until 30 June 2022. Depending on your skills and experience, a salary of $70,000 - $75,000 p.a. (pro rata) is offered plus superannuation, access to generous NFP salary packaging, flexible work/life balance benefits, supportive team, highly regarded supervision programs and development opportunities, purposeful work that makes a real difference to lives of young people and their families and carers and career opportunities within an organisation that is the leader in youth mental health.
