Your new role

The Orygen Youth Prevention & Recovery Care (YPARC) is a pivotal sub-acute program supporting young people transition to the community from inpatient psychiatric care, or to intervene early and prevent further deterioration that may lead to inpatient psychiatric care. YPARC will also support young people with substance-use issues.

We have some exciting new opportunities within our newly purpose-built YPARC centre.

As a Senior RPN, you will:

  • Function autonomously and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary YPARC team
  • Plan and develop services for young people and their families that are consistent with best practice standards and evidence-based care, and are in line with the strategic direction and vision for Orygen
  • Provide nursing interventions around diet and fluid intake, physical observations, monitoring clinical risk to self and others and falls risks
  • Contribute to mental health and risk assessment, formulation, psychological treatment, crisis intervention, systems support for the young person, family/carers and wider system
  • Provide support, supervision, primary and secondary consultations to members of the multidisciplinary team, regarding family inclusive practice principles and approaches

What you’ll need

You are passionate, energetic and determined to make a difference to health outcomes for young people. In addition, you will bring:

  • AHPRA registration and a Bachelor Degree in Nursing, Bachelor Degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent
  • Comprehensive previous experience in clinical practice within the mental health field, including young people experiencing mental health disorders including assessment and case management
  • Knowledge of mental health system of care, the common mental health and substance use issues faced by young people, and evidence-based treatments for major adolescent health issues
  • Knowledge of and work within the framework of early intervention, de-stigmatisation, diversity, inclusion, and non-discrimination
