The Opportunity

The Knowledge Translation division are seeking a Clinical Educator to join their dynamic team of clinicians and academics who contribute their skills and knowledge to the service innovation, workforce development and research translation initiatives of Orygen.

The role and your impact

Part time / full time (0.5 – 1.0 FTE) position available until 30 June 2022, with opportunity for further employment.

In collaboration with the Knowledge Translation team and other teams across Orygen, the Clinical Educator’s primary purpose will be to plan, develop and deliver evidence-based workforce development resources and programs to the youth mental health workforce.

The tasks and responsibilities of a Clinical Educator will vary over time depending on the skills, knowledge and experience of the individual Clinical Educator and the range of initiatives and projects in Youth Mental Health currently being undertaken by the division.

Salary and benefits

Depending on your skills and experience, a salary of $95,000 - $110,000 p.a. About you

Essential to be successful in this role and to be considered, you will need have tertiary qualifications in clinical psychology, occupational therapy, mental health nursing or social work. In addition, you will bring:

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency or equivalent registering authority.
  • A youth-friendly, optimistic and professional approach to work and a passion and commitment to achieving positive change in Youth Mental Health.
  • An advanced level of skill in youth mental health clinical practice, including assessment, case formulation and intervention across a range of diagnostic categories, demonstrated experience at a senior clinician/clinical coordinator or extensive clinical experience within an autonomous role.
  • A robust knowledge of the rationale, current evidence base and treatments for early intervention in youth mental health.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate knowledge transfer and training activities for the youth mental health workforce. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of consultation processes and issues related to provision of consultation to external agencies.
  • Ability to effectively lead, develop, implement and evaluate projects.
  • Experience, interest and knowledge of research and its role in knowledge development and service improvement
