About the role and its impact

We are currently seeking applications for a part time/full-time (0.8 – 1.0 FTE) Clinical Consultant. This position is fixed term and available until 30 June 2021 with the possibility of renewal dependent on funding. You will commence working from home however in future will be based at Parkville.

As the Clinical Consultant – Australian Early Psychosis Program (AEPP), your contribution will be to support the implementation of key aspects of the headspace Youth Early Psychosis Program (hYEPP) established within designated headspace centres. You will assist in providing support, service development, technical and expert clinical advice to hYEPP projects to ensure ongoing quality improvement in establishment and service delivery. A key focus is also to more broadly promote the Australian Early Psychosis Program both nationally and internationally.

As a guide, remuneration of $110,000 - $130,000 per annum pro rata is offered, dependent on skills and experience; NFP generous salary sacrificing opportunities are also available to the successful candidate.

About you

  • Previous working knowledge of the common mental health issues faced by young people, and evidence-based treatments for major adolescent health issues.
  • Knowledge of substance use and other health and social problems faced by young people and the indicated evidence-based treatment/support options.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, government policies and strategic directions in relation to mental health and alcohol and other substances particularly as it relates to young people.
  • A breadth of understanding of the different types of organisations involved in mental health and early psychosis service delivery to young people.
  • Previous knowledge of and work within the framework of early intervention, de-stigmatisation, diversity, inclusion, and non-discrimination.
  • An understanding of and commitment to ethics and confidentiality issues, particularly in relation to the health and allied-health professions.
  • Proficient computer skills with a demonstrated ability in word processing, PowerPoint and database programs, as required.
