The Opportunity 

headspace Melton is seeking a tertiary qualified allied health practitioner (such as psychologists, social workers and occupational therapists) or nurse with a mental health background to join our driven and inclusive multi-disciplinary team to deliver excellent youth friendly early intervention services. The Role

The Access Team Clinician holds a critical role in contributing to the provision of high quality, early intervention intake and assessment services to young people, their families/carers and community professional/agencies. The Access Team Clinician will:

  • Have a direct role in the engagement, assessment and coordination of care for young people accessing services at headspace Melton;
  • Assist in the referral of young people to appropriate programs (including research interventions) either within the headspace Melton or other community agencies; and
  • Participate in community awareness raising activities that promote early help-seeking for mental health and substance use problems in young people.

Depending on your skills and experience, a salary of $57,265 - $75,148 p.a. What you will bring to the role

Essential to the role is that you are tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline such as Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Nursing and have provisional or full registration with AHPRA or eligible for registration with AASW. You are passionate, energetic and determined to make a difference to health outcomes for young people. In addition, you will bring: 

  • Experience in the provision of mental health care, including completion of mental health assessments; risk assessment and crisis intervention/safety planning; psychoeducation and short-term/brief interventions to young people experiencing mental health and/or substance use problems.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to determine and plan for a young person’s recovery and support needs, employing a shared-decision making approach.
  • Demonstrated sound ability to make decisions, problem solve, and risk manage, in relation to conducting intake and assessments and determining a young people’s suitability for ongoing treatment/support services at the centre.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to liaise and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Commitment to supporting clinical research within the service.
