The Opportunity

headspace Melton is seeking an Access Team Clinician to join a supportive and inclusive multidisciplinary team that is passionate about delivering quality and safe primary clinical services to young people experiencing mental ill-health in the Melton community. The role and your impact

Part-time (0.6 FTE) fixed term position until 30 June 2022, with potential for further employment. 

Working within a multidisciplinary team, the Access Team Clinician will be well supported operationally and clinically to provide high quality, early intervention intake and assessment services to young people, their families/carers and community professional/agencies. The Access Team Clinician will: 

• Have a direct role in the engagement, assessment and coordination of care for young people accessing services at headspace Melton;
• Assist in the referral of young people to appropriate programs (including research interventions) either within the headspace Melton or other community agencies; and
• Participate in community awareness raising activities that promote early help-seeking for mental health and substance use problems in young people.

Your role as the Access Team Clinician aims to improve access to services and continuity of care for young people across four core streams of service: mental health; alcohol and other drugs; primary care; and social recovery/vocational services. 

About you

Essential to this role is that you will have approved tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing). You will have full general registration with AHPRA or eligibility for full registration with AASW. In addition, you will bring:

• Experience in the provision of mental health care, including completion of mental health assessments; risk assessment and crisis intervention/safety planning; psychoeducation and short-term/brief interventions to young people experiencing mental health and/or substance use problems.
• Demonstrated experience and ability to determine and plan for a young person’s recovery and support needs, employing a shared-decision making approach.
• Demonstrated sound ability to make decisions, problem solve, and risk manage, in relation to conducting intake and assessments and determining a young people’s suitability for ongoing treatment/support services at the centre.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to liaise and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Commitment to supporting clinical research within the service.

Salary and benefits

Depending on your skills and experience, a salary of $58,707 - $76,867 p.a. pro rata is offered plus superannuation and access to generous NFP salary packaging.
