First Nations Clean Energy Network Coordinator

Original Power

Work to build the power of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to self-determine our own futures and protect country.

Alongside our work to protect country, there is an urgent opportunity for First Nations people to be part of the economic transition to clean and sustainable energies. Building on a decade of renewable expansion, there are significant barriers which need to be addressed to ensure our people are able to be part of the next phase of development through ownership, equity, investment and participation.

Establishing a First Nations Clean Energy Network is one important first step, building a forum to develop a body of knowledge, a shared vision and coordinate our efforts to ensure energy production is secure, accessible and sustainable for generations to come.

Based in Original Power as the host organisation, the FNCEN Coordinator is part of a small team that is the driving force to establish the First Nations Clean Energy Network (FNCEN). This is an exciting opportunity for an effective collaborator with experience in setting up or running small community-based organisations, ideally with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples. Your coordination, organising and leadership skills will ensure the emerging organisation has the tools to meet its ambitious vision by enabling the development of strategy, connections, systems and resources.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL

  • Drive an exciting new initiative that brings together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, technical experts, advocates and businesses to be part of the clean energy revolution
  • Apply your commitment to self-determination by ensuring engagement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities so that the network is designed and driven by their vision and interests
  • Use your experience in negotiating shared interests in membership driven organisations and creating and running new projects to build an effective and impactful organisation
