about the opportunity

The First Nations Clean Energy Network (FNCEN) will ensure First Nations people play a central role and harness the opportunities from Australia’s clean energy boom. Together we will support community-owned renewable projects to deliver lower-cost, reliable energy. We will power job opportunities and strong economies. We will also form strong industry partnerships, sharing the benefits of a renewable future. We will back new projects so we play a role in addressing climate change.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Original Power, which is supporting the network as it becomes established, the FNCEN Coordinator is part of a small team that will drive the new network. Working with a high profile and skilled Steering Group, this is an exciting opportunity for an effective collaborator to build a new outfit which has enormous momentum and energy. Your coordination, organising and leadership skills will ensure the emerging organisation has the tools to meet its ambitious vision by enabling the development of strategy, connections, systems and resources.

  • Drive an exciting new initiative that brings together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, technical experts, advocates and businesses to be part of the clean energy revolution.
  • Apply your commitment to self-determination by ensuring engagement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities so that the network is driven by their vision and interests.
  • Use your skills as an effective collaborator to build a sense of shared mission, matching ambitious vision with the skills to enable the development of strategy, connections, systems and resources.

YOU’VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES

Essential

  • Experience leading complex social change projects, campaigns or community organising initiatives, with proven success in collaborative projects that build power and capability as well as achieving outcomes.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and organisations.
  • Experience facilitating networks or alliances with a track record of success in building collaborations and developing strong and effective shared strategies.
  • Excellent organisational and people management skills with a proven ability to work under pressure, adapt to change and deliver to tight deadlines.

Desirable

  • Understanding of the Australian energy generation and renewable energy industry in particular.
  • Experience in policy analysis and development for reform is an advantage.
