Original Power provides strategic advice and campaign support, facilitates capacity building and connects communities. The demands of climate justice require us to not only confront the climate crisis, but in doing so, build our capacity to ensure we are people who can confront all forms of injustice, determine our own futures and help bring greater control and dignity to our communities.

Your focus is to ensure that our messages are compelling and effective, and community led campaigns are as powerful as possible. You have strategic insight, broad content production skills and are familiar with a range of social media platforms, including facebook, twitter, and Linkedin.

Working with the Communications Director and the Original Power team, you will facilitate communication with and by communities about campaign issues, and contribute to building the communications capability of partner organisations and community spokespeople.

  • Shape and deliver a wide range of communications as a core element of projects and campaigns, creating and implementing communications strategies across all our work
  • Produce high quality and engaging content and build compelling storylines for a wide range of platforms

Essential

  1. Professional experience in a communications role requiring a high degree of autonomy, with proven results gained by applying a range of communications tools and techniques
  2. Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and organisations
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to produce compelling content using a range of techniques including verbal, written, visual and audio-visual
  4. Proven expertise in designing and delivering content strategies for all major media platforms, both traditional and new media
  5. Demonstrated record of working effectively under pressure in collaboration with partners and stakeholders, including adapting to challenges and managing sensitive issues.

Desirable

  1. Current valid driver’s licence and ability to travel widely on the Eastern Seaboard
  2. Experience in fundraising and/or donor engagement is an advantage.
