Orange Sky Australia

About Orange Sky

Orange Sky is a not-for-profit organisation providing a free mobile laundry and shower service to people experiencing homelessness. We offer a platform for everyday Australians and New Zealanders to connect by creating a safe, positive and supportive environment for people who are too often ignored or who feel disconnected from the community.

We currently operate 36 services across 25 locations in Australia, and three services across two locations in New Zealand. There are 116,000 Australians and 41,600 Kiwis experiencing homelessness, and we’re on a mission to positively connect these communities through clean clothes, warm showers, and genuine, non-judgemental conversation. We’re driven, dedicated, insanely ambitious and a little unconventional. We take our work seriously, but have plenty of fun along the way. We work hard and ‘get it done’, but always make time to celebrate each other’s success.

The Role

We’re always looking to increase our impact and help more Friends on the street – striving to continually improve is in our DNA at Orange Sky. This role is a key member of our dynamic Community Impact Team, and vital to the smooth operation and improvement of services across Australia.

No day is ever the same, so the ideal applicant will thrive in a dynamic environment - we need someone who knows how to have lots of balls in the air that can’t be dropped, can think on the fly, and get creative to make things happen.

In a nutshell, this role is responsible for:

  • Providing administrative support to the Operations Team, supporting the delivery of existing and new services
  • Researching, identifying & proposing potential new shift locations
  • Establishing & managing relationships with service providers, councils and other organisations related to the Community Impact space
  • Maintaining service provider and shift location logistics and information (e.g. new services, van base, etc.) including the regular preparation and updating of shift details
  • Developing new systems and processes to streamline our operations
  • Engaging with and support Orange Sky stakeholders (e.g. staff, volunteers, councils, Service Providers), including assisting with general enquiries and troubleshooting

Convinced this is the role for you? Tick some boxes!

Our perfect fit is a go-getting administration and customer service extraordinaire. We’re looking for someone with experience in a similar support role within a fast-paced organisation with lots of moving parts.

Believe in what we do. To be successful at Orange Sky, you need a genuine passion for our cause. We’re proud of our achievements in just six years. We want likeminded, intrinsically motivated people who’re keen to jump on board, hit the ground running and become part of the team.

We’re looking for someone who genuinely loves delighting customers (or in Orange Sky’s case – volunteers, and our friends on the street) and understands how to deliver high quality support and value to our services.

You’ll be heavy on processes and love working to deadlines, yet fluid in your approach to getting things done – curveballs don’t discourage you because you love the challenge of something new. You’re solutions focused, inquisitive by nature and enjoy building systems and process improvements, with a keen eye for detail.
